Reflection Post

When I first started com 210, i had no idea what i was doing. I would dread the projects because it would stress me out. Once i allowed myself to become one with the programs, then it became easier to complete each unit.

My favorite project this year was the audio story because it allowed me to get my ideas and words flowing without showing my face. I decided to do a podcast/interview type of audio story because i wanted to explain why i chose the topic i did and it also allowed me to involved my younger cousin which was pretty cool.

Since i am a public relations major, i may need to make a flyer or even a promotional video for my future employer. I now have the skills to go on to any of the adobe programs that we used throughout the course and create any type of content that i want to.

I see myself either working for a magazine company as a journalist or as a publicist for a person or company. If i were to work for a magazine company, then i will have to be able to create interesting columns, not only just for reading but interesting to look at. If were to be someone’s publicist, then i will need to be able to help get that persons image out there without boring the public.

I honestly dont have alot of knowledge on what other skills you could do beside the one we did. Maybe more animation would have been fun!

The course readings were useful throughout each unit and allowed me to go back to them if i needed extra assistance on the projects.

Even though i had a tough time at the beginning, this class was a fun and interesting learning experience!

Final Video Story

My initial idea for my project was to create a fun, in your face intro for my videos on my future youtube channel. I wanted crazy transitions, and text spelling out my name that beated with the beat of the song but once I actually started my draft i realized how difficult my idea really was and how inexperienced I was with the program.

I also ran into the problem of my videos not fitting the screen correctly.  Out of frustration of trying many different formats, i came to conclusion that i would have to just let them be. After my formatting mishap, i ran into another issue. I couldn’t think of a song to go with my video. Whenever i watch youtube videos, the intros always have a upbeat tempoed song. I came across a fun song called Midnight City by M83 that i used to listen to all the time in like middle school. I found a downloaded version on a free website called hungama.com. The song went along great with my video but i didn’t like the singing in the song so i cut the song up until i essentially made my own instrumental of the song using the parts of the song that i liked.

Once i finished with the song, i know that my video was still basic. I had too many clips to put transitions in between each one so i decided to create a motion text at the end with my name on it. It’s a simple black background with a white border around my name. It kind of pops up as the music fades away. It adds a simple cute touch to my video.

Even though my video didn’t turn out how i planned it, it is still something i am proud of as this was my first time doing something like this.

Video Story Draft

My video right now is under major construction. My main idea was to make an intro for my youtube videos I will be posting on my page in the future. I still want to continue with the idea but right now i am having trouble because my videos don’t quite fit correctly. I wanted my intro to include video clips of me or me and my friends to show a little bit of my life adventures. Usually intros aren’t longer than at least 10 to 15 seconds so making a 1-2 minute intro is a little difficult.

The videos in my intro are from my phone camera roll or my snapchat. They are videos i have taken throughout the past few months because i wanted to keep it as recent as possible. My goal to help fix this video is to find a song that will go well with my videos and is a song that makes you want to keep listening and watching. I also want to edit some of my videos and maybe find some new ones so it doesn’t look so rough and choppy. I also want to figure out what kind of transitions i want to use. I am also even thinking of looking up some effects to make some videos pop out more. Right now my video is not very entertaining so i am hoping for some major change within the next week!
